Mrs. Clarence Coggshall - Funeral services for the late Mrs. Clarence Coggshall were held Saturday forenoon at 11 o'clock at the Morfoot Funeral Home in Nevada. Rev. L.E. Watson, pastor of the Methodist church, having charge of the services. He was assisted by Rev. B. H. Guthrie, of Maxwell, and Rev. Paul Hicks of Malvern, Iowa, a close friend of the family, who took his message from Job 23:10. The singing was rendered by a ladies quartet. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery. Ruth Shields Coggshall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Shields, was born in Story county, near Maxwell, June 13, 1887, and died in the Iowa sanitarium at Nevada, February 21, 1928, at the age of forty years, eight months and fifteen days. Her death followed a major operation from which tired nature did not have the strength to recover. December 12, 1906, at the home of her parents, in Iowa CEnter, she was married to Clarence Coggshall, and to this union were born two sons, Anderson and Clarence Junior. The latter died while a babe a month old. As a girl she united with the Evangelical church and upon her marriage transferred to the Methodist church, in which she remained a very faithful and conscientious worker to the end. She was a Christian woman of rare charm and sweetness, reflecting the spirit of her Master ina most wonderful way. She was also a member of the Solomon Dean Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, andd a member of the Woman's Auxiliary of the Nevada Post, No. 48, of the American Legion. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, son, Anderson; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Shields; four sisters, Mrs. Ray Howell, of Maxwell; MRs. H.C. Steward, of Eldora; Mrs. D.M. Winterrowd, of Alhambra, Calif., and Mrs. G. C. Fish, of Collins; three brothers, C.A. Shields, of Sterling, Colo., Sheldon Shields, of Jewellsburg, Colo., and J.C. Shields, of Calumet City, Ill.. In addition to these near relatives there is a large circle of other relatives, neighbors and friends who will miss one whose love was as pure as gold refined by fire. The members of her church, her neighbors, and indeed the whole community join in expressing to those who stood dearest to her, their deepest sympathy and affestion, and join in the prayer that the Heavenly Father's choicest blessing may sooth and comfort them in this hour of sorrow.
