Mass will be said for Sister M. Naadene Ann Stone at 2 p.m. Saturday at Marylhurst Convent Chapel, followed by burial in Holy Names Cemetery.
She died Thursday at St. Mary's Convent, The Dalles, at age 72.
Sister Stone was born April 15, 1909, in Portland, the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alvin B. Stone. The family later settled in The Dalles where she graduated from St. Mary's Academy. She entered the Holy Names novitiate in July 1929.
She earned degrees at Holy Names College and Gonzaga University, both Spokane, and taught school in Spokane and Seattle. She also taught at Sacred Heart School, Medford; Our Lady of the Lake, Lake Oswego; and Cathedral and Holy Redeemer schools, Portland. She was a principal at five schools.
After many years in elementary education, she completed a year of study for librarianship at the University of San Francisco and from 1973 to 1981 was librarian at Holy Reedemer School, Portland. She transferred to St. Mary's as librarian two months ago.
Survivors include three brothers, the Rt. Rev. Monsignor William Stone, pastor of St. Alphonsus Church, Dufur, Gail Stone, Portland, and Rolland Stone, Troutdale; and a sister, Genevieve Gutfleisch, Portland.
