Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Shroyer and daughter Lana are experiencing the deep sorrow of the loss of their only son and brother, A. Lowell Shroyer, eighteen years of age, who passed away , Friday evening, January 14th, 1921, at the family home four miles east of Newton, after a three week illness, a constitutional breakdown resulting from asthma.

The deceased was born March 17th, 1903 in Sharon, Iowa. The family came to Kansas in 1907, hoping the change in climate might make their little son then about five years old, more robust.

He was fond of school life and finished his grade education under the instruction of his sister, Lana Schroyer. This school term he entered the Bethel Acadamy and was interested in his work especially his bible study. He was forced by ill health to stop his school work at Christmas time, his constitutional strength failing from that time.

Lowell was a young man of sterling quality. He was always thoughtful of others wishes before his own. Although he was handicapped by ill health, he was always cheerful, and if asked, how he was felling, he would answer, "all right," or "I am feeling better."

He united with the Newton Methodist church in 1918, and was a faithful Christian follower. He was devoted to his parents and thought of their needs and was ready to help at all times.

He will be sadly missed in the home and by his young associates.

The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Methodist church in Newton, interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
