Russel married Clancy Hoskins Pingleton and had two children Minnie and Pauline Pingleton. He worked in the Bond-Foley Sawmill, until moving to West Virginia to work in a Kanawha County sawmill. During 1918 the Spanish Influenza Epidemic killed his daughter Minnie, then Russel two days later. His wife Clancy remained in West Virginia and remarried to Charles William Peal a year later.
