Leah Banwart Passes;
Rites Held Wednesday

Funeral services for Mrs. Leah Banwart, 72, Algona resident for 39 years, were held Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran church. Rev. G. J. C. Gerike officiated and burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. McCullough's Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Banwart died Sunday at St. Ann hospital where she had been a patient for a week.

She was born Leah Rose Schneider Feb. 4, 1889 at Elgin to Joseph and Anna Frieden Schneider. She was married to George Banwart Sept. 23, 1908. He farmed and operated a hauling service here for many years and proceeded his' wife in death in 1954. Mrs. Banwart was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Harm (Florence) Helmers and Mrs. Mildred Johnson, both of Algona, Mrs. John (Ruth) Polley, White, S. Dak. and Mrs. Bernice Keefe, Ledyard; five sons, Herbert of Algona, Dr. Geo. Banwart, Jr., Falls Church, Virginia, Russell of Sioux City, Dr. Harold Banwart of Adel, and Richard of Amboy, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Eldon (Hulda) Fain, Nevada, Mrs. Florence Miller, Sioux City, and Mrs. Ralph (Laura) Bell, Laurens; three brothers, Harry Schneider, Ruthven, Joseph Schneider, Wesley, and Bernard Schneider, Casey; 29 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters proceeded her in death.
