William H. Sanford, 82, one of the pioneer residents of Preston township. Wayne county, passed away at his home at Lake Como on Monday evening, Dec. 17, death following an illness of considerable duration. Mr. Sanford was born in 1852 at Little York, now Lakewood, a son of Joseph B. and Jane (Woodmansee) Sanford. He was one of a family of nine children, eight of whom are now deceased. He was united in marriage to Viola Dix and for many years followed the occupation of farming at Shehawken. Here his wife died. Some years ago he married Mrs. Julia Little and has since resided at Lake Como. He was a member of the Shehawken Methodist church and for years was Sunday school superintendent and one of the church trustees. Survivng are his wife, one daughter. Grace, wife of Raymond Leet of Shehawken and one brother, Rev. Luman E. Sanford of Montrose. Pa.; also several grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
