Allen Barnett

b in the Fall of 1799 West Hanover, Dauphin Co., PA son of James Barnett / Mary Allen Natives of PA

d 19 Sept 1879 died of injuries he recieved from the kicks of a mule after suffering for 3-4hours in his 80th year.

Allen was the 5th in the family of 9 children, he being the last. His grandfather Joseph Barnett was born in 1726, whos father John was the son of John who was born in Londonderry Ireland in 1678, and emigrated to Hanover Twp., Lancaster Co., PA prior to 1730.

Allen parents died when he was young and was thrown upon his own resources. In 1819 his eldest brother Samuel, emigrated West bringing his brothers and sisters with him.

Allen was left in Cincinnati, OH were he learned the trade of coppersmith. After completing his term of service he went to Shippingport, KY now apart of Portland, KY where he began to lay his foundation for his future successes.
