Ray Willis Apple 86, of McCordsville, passed away June 30, 2008 at his residence. Born December 25, 1921 to Frank A. and Mary Elizabeth (Kingen) Apple, Ray was the youngest of four children. Mr. Apple was a graduate of the old Mt. Comfort High School and a Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from Naval Avionics in Indianapolis in 1976 where he was General Foreman of Manufacturing Machining. Ray was a 64-year member of both the Eden Masonic Lodge #477, and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis; member of the McCordsville United Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, and the NARFE. He was past president of Indian Lake Country Club (1967), past member of the Fort Harrison Golf Club and Greenfield Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, most sports, and raising bird dogs for hunting.

Mr. Apple is survived by his wife, Mary Rosalie (Witt) Apple; two daughters, Nancy Lee (Darrell) Thomas of McCordsville and Janice Marie Slunaker of Indianapolis; five grandchildren: Natalie, Darren, Shannon, Curtis, and Erin; 11 great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles "Chic" (Louise) of McCordsville. Mr. Apple was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marie Stoner and Gennetta Jones.

Friends may call on Thursday July 3, 2008 from 4 to 8 pm at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. A celebration of Ray's life will be held Sat. July 5, 2008 at 10 am, also at Seals. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
