John TROUT was born 14 Jun 1779 near Sand Brook, Raritan Township, Hunterdon, New Jersey, the son of Hans Georg "George" TROUT (1729-1809) and wife Johanna LEQUIER (1737-1825).

John married Anna BESSON (1783-1866) on 10 Jan 1805. At least two children were born to this union, Jeremiah, 2 Oct 1805; and Asher TROUT, 18 Aug 1807.

John TROUT was killed 11 Mar 1808 by lightning while plowing his fields, and his widow later married John's older brother, George TROUT (1773-1843) on 23 Feb 1811.
