James Arch "Archie" Mabry was the younger son of Thomas Clark Mabry, Sr. and Temperance "Tempy" Howard. After the death of his father during the Civil War, Archie and his older brother Thomas Clark Mabry, Jr. were reared by a paternal uncle, and his wife: William Harrison "Hash" Mabry

By 1909 James Arch and family were in Tell, Childress County, TX. From Childress County, TX, they moved to Jackson County OK in 1910, and then to Burns City, Cooke County, TX.

James Arch and Martha were the parents of nine children:
