He served aboard the U.S.S.Texas from October 12, 1926 to January 19, 1927; the U.S.S.Florida from January 19, 1926 to July 8, 1927; the U.S.S.Utah from July 8, 1927 to February 16, 1928; the U.S.S.Mercy from February 16, 1928 to February 28, 1928 and again on the U.S.S.Utah from February 28, 1928 to January 17, 1929. His last rank was Seaman first class. Richard was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on October 17, 1929.
