Dale Clarence Cauffman was born at his parents home on February 3, 1934 to Clarence and Eva (Wolford) Cauffman. He grew up helping on the family farm and enjoyed a lifelong love of gardening. He liked to spend time with his family and pets. In his free time he liked to bird watch, hunt, fish and watch movies.

He starting working at Tyler's Refrigeration in 1965 and celebrated his 15 year anniversary on October 11, 1980. He received the "Award for "Outstanding Citizenship" for his service as a juror in September 1980. There is a picture of him holding the award in the company newsletter for Tyler's Refrigeration, The Tyler Spirit, Volume 1, No. 8 in October 1980.

He was 76 years old when he passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Michigan. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son three brothers, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law and two daughters-in-law.

A graveside service was held on April 28, 2010, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. He was laid to rest at a grave alongside his mother, Mary Eva (Wolford) Cauffman and his brother, Richard L. Cauffman.
