Funeral for Jack L. Cox, 63, of Karen Court will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike, with the Revs. Chet Martin and Richard Yeaton officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
Memorials may be made to the Fireman's Cheer Fund or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Mr. Cox died at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 1997, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove.
He retired from the Columbus Fire Department after 32 years of service and was a special deputy with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department for many years.
A member of the Fraternal Order of Police, he worked in security at Como Plastics, attended Free Methodist Church and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Cox was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Columbus, the son of William and Beulah Rothrock Cox. He married Patricia A. Hull Aug. 3, 1984. She survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Jackie Cain of Columbus and Jerri Cox Enzinger of Noblesville; a half brother, James Dunning of Naples, Fla.; a half sister, Wilma Hull of Muncie; and three grandchildren, Trevor, Tyler and Thor Cain, all of Columbus.
