Jacob Busch was a Police Officer in Webster Groves, Missouri. He served 11 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 45. Officer Busch and his partner interrupted a burglary in progress, at a home on Tuxedo Boulevard. A citizen had called police to report a prowler in the area. When the Officers arrived at the scene, they met with the citizen and began searching the area. Officer Busch and the citizen heard a noise behind a nearby house and walked into the back yard. When they rounded the corner of the house, they observed a man trying to pry open a window. The man turned and shot Officer Busch in the chin. Though wounded, he returned fire, emptying his revolver. The suspect continued firing, striking Officer Busch in the chest, killing him. Officer Busch's partner immediately ran to the scene of the shooting and opened up fire on the suspect, as he fled. The suspects body was located 50 yards away. Officer Busch was survived by his wife and six children.
