Funeral for Gorman Means Braswell, 83, of Decatur will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wade Griffith officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and the body will be at the church one hour before the service.
Mr. Braswell died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at his home. He was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Decatur to Bascom E. Braswell and Margaret Ann Means Braswell. He was a retired farmer, former owner of Green Acres Golf Course and a past board member of Alabama Farm Bureau. He was also a former member of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. He was a lifelong member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude Braswell; one son, Gorman O'Neal Braswell of Decatur; four daughters, Carolyn McLemore, Charlotte Atkins and Mary Sue McDaniel, all of Decatur, and Kathy Braswell of Montgomery; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Will McDaniel, Jeff Stewart, Russell Millwood, Steve Hill, Douglas Birdyshaw, Chris Lilly, Wilson Mitchell and Leonard Sellers.
Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
