Matilda "Minnie" Galbraith was the daughter of George Marshall Galbraith and Louisa Eliza Galbraith. Matilda 1st married Isaac Kenton Jett in 1873 in Germantown, Bracken County Kentucky and they had six children: Matilda, Ellen Fanny, Rosa, Julia, Omar and Lemuel "Lennie". After the divorce, Matilda married Taliaferro T. Thornton on Feb 28, 1889 in Oxford, Kentucky. They had two Son's Sterling Bettis and Robert Loos.
