L. A. Speidel Dies in Hospital
Formerly Had Soft Pretzel Stand in Penn Square

Lawrence A. Speidel, 355 W. Orange St., died at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Lancaster General Hospital. Speidel was a well-known figure in the life of Lancaster, for many years conducting a stand for the sale of soft pretzels in Penn Square. He had been ill for a month.
He was a native of Lancaster and the son of the late Abram and Wilhelmina Schoenberger Speidel. He was a member of Lancaster Lodge No. 84, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Lancaster Lodge No. 134, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He is survived only by his wife, Mrs. Margaret E. Seibel Speidel, a niece and two nephews.
