"First Road Fatality
Passenger Is Killed
A two-car accident resulting in Pottstown's first traffic fatality of the year occurred Thursday.
Walter McCurdy Sr., 311 Walnut St., Pottstown, died a short time after the accident in Pottstown Medical Center North, due to multiple injuries, including broken ribs and collapsed lungs.
Police said the victim was in an auto driven by his son, Walter Jr., 53 of the same address, when the auto was struck on the passenger side at the intersection of Charlotte and Wilson streets.
The other car was driven by Robert Calvario, 42, of Pottstown. He escaped injury.
Mr. McCurdy was traveling south on Charlotte street when the accident occurred, police reported."
