Jean Meredith Vining moved on to play golf with the angels and sing harmony with her sisters after a long illness, January 12, 2013.

Jean was born on a farm in Charity, Missouri in 1924, one of ten children of Vera and Orval Atteberry. Jean was a very independent young woman and took flying lessons at age 18 during a time when not many women were pilots.

She left home immediately after graduating high school (the only woman in her graduating class!). Jean couldn't wait to get away to the "big city" of Wichita, Kansas wherein 1942 she met the love of her life, Ted C. Vining. They courted by correspondence during WWII and were married in 1945. The family came to Tucson in 1962.

Jean was an avid golfer, a devoted wife of 56 years and the best mother her children could ask for. Her life was rich in love and friendship.

Left to honor Jean and remember her love and laughter are four children, Joanne Vining, Julie (Richard) Patze and Bob (Julia) Vining and Tom Vining; five grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Jean will live on in the memories of all who loved her.

Services will be held at the EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice.
