She was born on October 23, 1925, in Louisville, MS, to Roger Courtney Eubanks and Bertha Velma Rogers Eubanks.
Her family moved to Brookhaven where she graduated from Brookhaven High School. She met and married Samuel Warren “Boots” Brown and was a dedicated wife for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and an assistant to Boots in the Allstate Insurance Agency until his retirement. They enjoyed spending time together with family and friends and traveling. She enjoyed her yard immensely, while he restored antique cars. They then traveled to car shows across the country. But, most of all, she loved the time spent with children and grandchildren. She was a kind person who lived out her Christian faith daily and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church for many, many years.
Preceding her in death were her husband “Boots”; her daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Brown Springer and son-in-law Carl Springer; her sister Hazel Eubanks Vandevender; and her parents Roger and Bertha Eubanks.
Survivors include her daughter Vicki Brown Hollingsworth and her husband Mark, of McComb; granddaughter Courtney Hollingsworth Hewitt and her husband Thomas, of Jackson; grandson David Bradford Hollingsworth, of Jackson; granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Springer, of Nesbit; great grandsons Thomas Hollingsworth “Worth” Hewitt and William Eubanks “Banks” Hewitt; and great granddaughters Anne Melton Hewitt and Frances Rose Hollingsworth, all of Jackson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Kirk Vandevender, of Pascagoula; niece Sandy Vandevender (Will) of Winter Garden, FL; nephew Bruce Vandevender (Alyssa) of Las Cruces, NM; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
The family appreciates the loyalty, dedication, an attentiveness shown to “Miss Jean” by her dear friends and caregivers Janice Moak, Sarah Brown, Helen Woods, Vickie Martin, Tangilene Reynolds, RoAnn Tiller and Frankie Chandler, and all the special members of Hospice Compassus team who were with her.
Memorials may be sent to Faith Presbyterian Church, 400 Magee Dr, Brookhaven, MS 39601 or Hospice Compassus, 120 W Cherokee St, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
