WINTHROP -- Helen O. Hutchinson, 100, a former resident of Highland Avenue in Gardiner, died peacefully, Saturday morning, April 24, 2010, at Winthrop Manor in Winthrop. She was born Dec. 20, 1909, in Lewiston, the daughter of George and Grace (Hunter) Dudley.

Helen graduated from Edward Little High School in 1926 and continued her education at Westbrook Junior College.

She married Verne Hutchinson in 1929 in Monmouth. He passed away May 1, 1984.

She worked for the state in the department of unemployment security until her retirement. She was a member of the Monmouth Grange, a lifelong member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member and Sunday school teacher of the United Church of Monmouth.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Hickey, and her husband, Ed, of West Gardiner; two grandchildren, Kim Knight and her husband, Mike Hensen, of Lewiston, and Matthew Sullivan and his wife, Cheryll, of Turner; five great-grandchildren, Shawn Knight, Seth and Skyler Hensen and Riley and Reese Sullivan; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Chisholm, and her husband, Bruce, of Quebec.

A graveside service will be held at Monmouth Ridge Cemetery, Monmouth. (Kennebec Journal 4/25/2010)
