June Malcolm Dodson was born on June 11,1916 in Goble, Oregon, to Orville and Ethel Malcolm. June went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2013. She died peacefully at the age of 97, with her family by her side, at Town Center Village in Happy Valley, Oregon.

June grew up in Deer Island, Oregon, with her two sisters, Velma (married to Merrill Lloyd); Evelyn (married to Fred Foshaug); and her brother, Elvin (married to Phyllis). Velma and Elvin preceded her in death. She graduated with honors from Saint Helens High School, where she served as her class Salutatorian.

June was blessed with 47 years of marriage to Francis Earl Dodson, known to their friends as Dobbie, who preceded her in death. Francis was a supervisor for the Pope and Talbot Lumber Company. Their retirement years were spent happily in Saint Helens.

June is survived by her daughters, Janice Flynn and Beverley Boyd (Tony); by her youngest sister, Evelyn Foshaug; and by five grandchildren, Todd Row (Annie), Mark Row (Sabrina), Annette Winner (Mark), Heidi Barnett (Charles), and Curtis Rutschman. She was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren.

June was a dedicated gardener and a wonderful cook who always canned large quantities of food for her family. She spent many hours sewing clothes for her girls while they were growing up. She greatly valued the friendships of the Deer Island Women's Club and served as its president for six years.

She and her husband were long-standing and active members of Sunset Park Church in Saint Helens, where they both taught children's Sunday school for many years.

She traveled to Jamaica, Hawaii, Mexico and to Europe, visiting with her grandson's family, who live in France. She spent most of her life in Oregon except for her years in Port Gamble, Washington, where she and her husband lived in the historic Thompson House (built 1859), the oldest continuously occupied house in the state of Washington, frequently opening it for tours.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm at the Columbia Funeral Home in Saint Helens, Oregon. Donations may be made in her name to Sunset Park Community Church.
