She was born June 23, 1933, in Montague, Mass. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1951.
Ms. Martin's 40-year career as a legal secretary included executive positions with the Alaska State Legislature and the 9th District Federal Court of Appeals.
She was a devoted volunteer and foster mother who worked with groups in California, Alaska and Oregon, including Hospice, Big Sisters, Rolling Readers, Birthday Club, Alaska Club, the PTA and youth sports.
Survivors include a son Paul Martin, Ashland; a daughter, Virginia Hartnett, San Diego; her mother, Leona Robert, Turners Falls, Mass.; a brother, David Robert, Sequim, Wash.; a sister, Theresa Russell, Cumberland, Maine; and three grandchildren.
