Bob was born to Robert and Beda Acree on Oct. 10, 1924, in Marcella, Arkansas. He was the youngest of four children. They moved to the Chowchilla area in 1936. He attended local schools and graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1943. After high school he farmed with his dad. He and his wife, Betty, were married in 1945. Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1946. He served in South Korea.
Bob worked for the city of Chowchilla before beginning a long career with Chowchilla High School as Director of Transportation.Bob was active in the community he called home. He was a member of the Chowchilla Lions Club, served as Worthy Patron of the Masonic Lodge, Noble Grand in the Odd Fellow Lodge, Grand Herald in State Odd Fellow Lodge in 2004-2005, he was a volunteer firemen for the city and county, a member of the Rolling Amigos RV Group, Spring Festival Board Chairman and chaired the Spring Festival Parade, Life Member of the VFW Post 9896 and American Legion Post 148. He was also a long-time member of First Baptist Church where he served as Treasurer for over 20 years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Roxie Bowerman, Jim Acree, and Bryce Acree.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty of Chowchilla, one son, Robert Acree and his wife, Amy, of Chowchilla; one daughter, Linda Matthias and husband, Daniel of San Luis Obisco; seven grandsons and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 10, at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Community Church. The Rev. Mike Scott will officiate.Burial will be in the Chowchilla District Cemetery. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donors favorite charity.
