July 6, 2015 note from great granddaughter, Kimberly Taylor ([email protected]), "When [President] Ulysses S Grant died in 1885, Jeffie's mother Annie Catherine Grant received artifacts, silver, money, and a bible from his estate. They were passed down to Jeffie and she gave them to my mother (Janette) Ruth Bryce's Daughter. I spent hours as a kid looking at all the things and reading the bible. It was Ulysses and had information about deaths and births back to the 1600's. My Mom had his silver from the Whitehouse. It was amazing and beautifully ornate. In 1975 my family moved from Washington State to Honolulu Hawaii. My parents hired packers that packed and shipped all possessions to Hawaii. Unfortunately they stole every family heirloom. My Mom is 70 now and still cries about the loss. I have been looking for the bible for 40 years. I just wish I could get something back for my Mom. Last year my Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's so she is forgetting a lot. I have also been trying to find out how my mother is related to president Grant. Do you have any idea?" Anyone know?
