First wife of the Rev. Harvey Carmichael, minister of St. Andrew's Scarborough 1912-1919.

They were married in 1898 as soon as Harvey received his MA with a dual major in Arts and Theology from Queen's College in Kingston, Ontario. He won the 1897 Gold Medal in Philosophy.

Lizzie's parents lived with the newlyweds in Dundas near Harvey's first church where their daughter Margaret Isabella was born in 1900. In 1905 they moved to Quebec where Harvey served two parishes, Chalmers and St. Andrew's Presbyterian in Richmond and Melbourne.

Unfortunately, Lizzie became ill and moved back to Spencerville to be cared for by her parents while Harvey and Margaret remained in Richmond, cared for by a housekeeper with the five-year-old becoming more and more rambunctious.

In 1907 Lizzie, the love of Harvey's life, died at age 35 from pernicious anemia and is buried in St. Andrew's Churchyard across the street from the John Carmichael home which is still standing.
