An old family feud in Yancey County has resulted in the killing by Arthur Riddle of Mrs. Rachel Hensley and her son Andrew Hensley.

Mrs. Hensley was shot and instantly killed. Her son received two bullet wounds and after being carried by friends over the mountains for ten miles, they reached an automobile and brought him to Asheville. He died after being operated upon in a local hospital.

Arthur Riddle, charged with double murder, is in the Yancey County jail, being guarded. Through fearing a lynching, the local authorities of Yancey County are preparing to remove him to Asheville for safe-keeping.
