At his residence, in Dakota township, Daniel Artley departed this life, Monday, June 14, 1886. The deceased was born in Lycoming county, Pa., June 7th, 1808. He came to Illinois in the fall of 1854, settled in Dakota township, where he has ever since remained. He was widely known among old settlers, and highly respected as a man of unbending integrity and scrupulous honor. February 8th, 1838, he married Miss Mary Zimmerman. Ten children were born of this union. Eight of them are still living. The mother died in 1861. Since then Mr. Artley has had his home with the children. His funeral services were held at the Lancaster school house, conducted by Rev. R. A. Harwood, of the M. E. Church. Old neighbors bore him to his grave. His end was peace.
