He grew up in Thrall graduating from high school in 1949 as the top-ranking male student. He was involved in many school clubs and organizations, excelling in football, basketball and track. He always had a job - whether it was filling the baptistery at the Baptist church, working at the cotton gin or delivering the newspaper all over town with his faithful dog Zipper trailing behind his bicycle. He moved to Austin to work as a bookkeeper for an oil company. He was in the U.S. Army. While in the army, he was on an elite volleyball team representing his base, his team traveled all over the states to compete. After the military, he worked for Miller Blue Print and later for Xerox where he retired. HE also worked for McMakin & Associates after obtaining a Realtor's license in 1992. Ken was a resident of Austin, and Corpus Christi, TX.
Ken and Happy were married on Oct. 14, 1955. They had three sons and one daughter.

Ken and Happy enjoyed traveling after retirement with several trips to Europe, and many trips in their motorhome. A five-month trip to Alaska. Besides travel and fishing everywhere from Alaska to the Gulf Coast, Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In 1997, Ken and Happy built their dream cabin in Fairplay, CO., enjoyed the mountains and sightseeing along four-wheel roads and trails.

Ken was involved in the community throughout his life. He served as: Boy Scout master, president of the Taylor Lions Club, finance chairman of Taylor Methodist Church, and staff pastor relationship committee chairman of First United Methodist Church in Pflugerville.

He will be forever remembered as a kind, quiet and gentle man, a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a loyal and supportive friend. He was so very proud of his good, caring, Christian, family-oriented children. He was the "go to" person for advice, pep talks, projects, house repairs and weekends of car repairs. He took the children fishing, hunting and camping. He was grounded in his faith and was very trustworthy, dependable, confident, sincere, compassionate, hard working and meticulous.
