A native of Eunice, he had lived in the Lake Charles area over 20 years. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana and Master's and Doctorate degrees in Engineering Mechanics from Louisiana State University.
He had been an Engineering Professor at McNeese State University since 1968.
