Oldest surviving child of Rowland and Martha E. Durham Moores Allie Ruth was born and raised in Madison County, Ky. She was a 1927 graduate of Eastern Ky. Teachers College (EKU). The following lines were taken from the 1927 Milestone the EKU yearbook,

Allie Ruth married Thomas J. Spurlin Dec. 23, 1930 in Covington, Kentucky. The marriage was blest with three talented daughters two of whom can be seen with Tom & Allie Ruth in the photo from the ca 1938 Moores-Scrivner family reunion. In her later years Allie Ruth was known to be a very knowledgable Moores Family historian before the convenience of the internet.
