Birthdate based on age at death of 73y 1m 15d on tombstone.

Following from the research of the late John D. Baldwin III:
GEORGE (5-1-4-3-5) was likely born in the early 1790s as he was to marry in 1811(or 1816. The censuses are contradictory and I do not know the source of Helen Hamilton's rather specific ca. 1791 though it is reasonable. In two censuses, he reported PA birth, and in 1880 son Daniel reported a PA father; this however contradicts his father's apparent presence in Berkeley Co., VA 1789-1799.

1800 - Father's enumeration not found.

180_ - Family probably back in PA in this decade as his brother Henry md. a Berks Co., PA woman.

1810 - Estimated time of arrival in Ohio, probably coming with brothers Henry and Jacob. None of them appears in the PA census, so were likely in Ohio which census is mostly lost. George was to marry here in 1811, Jacob had a child b. here 1814 and one perhaps by 1811, and Henry served here in the War of 1812.

1811/1816 - He md. 16 Jul 1816 Rachel Abrams, Pickaway Co., OH. (date difficult to read, prev. had 11 Jul 1811)

181_ - Rachel died, prob. in this decade. Tradition says the future second wife was housekeeper at time of her death and the birth of her last son.

1820 - Not listed as a head of household. Probably a widower, and tradition reports his son Jacob was raised by maternal relatives.

1821 - Md. 2nd Ross Co., OH 15 Feb 1821 Anna Hall, she b. prob. 1800 and prob. in Del., MD or VA.

1830 - Colerain Twp. Ross Co. 1000001/11001. This places birth by 1790 which is possible but conflicts with 1840 and later censuses. It places her birth 1800 or after. He is not be confused with the George of Salt Creek Twp., Pickaway Co., this year, that man was (3-1-1-2) of a different DeLong family entirely.)

1833 - One contributor says he bought land in Clay and/or Pusheta Twps., Allen Co., OH.

1834 - At a land sale in Piqua, OH on 5 Feb 1834, he bought 80 acres in what is now Auglaize Co., OH (then part of Allen), the first land to be sold in the vicinity of what is now Cridersville.

1840 - Apparently he did not live on the Auglaize land as he was in Clay Twp., Allen Co., 1840 0101001/001001. This suggests birth 1791 or after for him; 1800 or after for her.

1848 - George and Anna were of Allen Co. when they sold the Auglaize land 16 Feb 1848. They are said to have moved after that sale to Hocking Co., OH then returned to Elida, Allen Co. I do no know the references and instead suggest they went West.

1848-9 - History of Jasper Co. Iowa (1878) says son William reached Iowa in 1848, and Jasper Co. in 1849. George and Anna likely migrated at same time, but were in Jeff. Co. in 1850, while William indeed was in Jasper. George and Ann followed there by 1860.

1850 - Fairfield Twp. Jefferson Co., Iowa records a Geo. Delong b. PA and wife Anna b. DE with children who had been born in OH and generally fit the 1830 and 1840 censuses. This seems certainly to be subject despite a low age of 52, too young considering his first marriage which was 1811. Anna was also 62 (I read 52../rwd) perhaps a bit high. Next door was Rebecca Long, prob. not their daughter as she is not accountable for in 1840.

1860 - Monroe, Fairview Twp., Jasper Co., Iowa, living with their son William. George was 62 (too young again), a tailor, b. PA, Anna was 60, birthplace looks like an O, but deleted and M (for MD?) entered.

1870 - George 72 b. PA, tailor, Ana (sic) 69 b. MD.
