Harriet Hoover Rhodes, wife of Samuel A Rhodes of Martinsburg, R. D., near Fredericksburg, died suddenly Sunday morning at 11 o'clock shortly after going down stairs. She had not been in good health for two years but was always able to be about her duties in the home. She was born March 2, 1858[sic/1859], at Henrietta, a daughter of John and Christiana Hoover. She was united in marriage in 1888[sic/1887*] with Samuel A. Rhodes who survives with one son, Cosner M. Rhodes, and one brother, Martin Hoover, the only survivor of a family of twelve children. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Glenn, Merrill and Robert Rhodes. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in the Clover Creek Church of the Brethren of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Brumbaugh cemetery.
