Mrs. Estelle Jarrell, wife of Walter A. Jarrell of Alamosa, formerly a merchant in Salida, died at 11:30 o'clock Saturday night at her home in Alamosa after an illness of six months. The body was brought to Salida Sunday morning and the funeral will be held at the Stewart chapel at 2:00 o'clock Wednesday. The services will be conducted by the Christain[sic] Science Church. Interment will be in Fairview. Mrs. Jarrell had a host of friends in Salida as well as Alamosa. She had lived in Salida from 1901 until two years ago when she removed with her husband to Dolores, and later to Alamosa. She was born February 5, 1881, in Ohio, and she came to Salida with a brother, who was employed by the D. & R. G. W. railroad. She was married to Mr. Jarrell in Salida, July 24, 1901. Mrs. Jarrell is survived by her husband, her father, Louis Captain of Eaton, Ohio, her stepmother and one brother, who lives in Missouri. Mrs. Jarrell was a member of the W. B. A. and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Mr. Captain came to Salida several months ago to visit his daughter when she was ill in the Rio Grande hospital, but he is ill and unable to come to her funeral. Mrs. Captain and Miss Velma McClellan, a cousin of Mrs. Jarrell, and a former teacher in the Salida high school, will be here for the funeral. Miss McClellan is now teaching in Camden, Ohio. Mr. Jarrell resigned his position with the Doveton, Inc. store at Alamosa several weeks ago to devote his entire time to his wife.
