Nichodemus Bennie Arterberry - Funeral services for Bennie N Arterberry 84, of Alex, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday April 1, 1996 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Ayres, First Baptist Church of Alex, officiating. Bennie N Arterberry was born June 1, 1911 in Lone Oak, Illinois. He was the son of Howard and Mandy Hillsberry Arterberry, died Friday, March 29, 1996 in Chickasha. He and Lorean Farmer were married 25 years. He later married Addie Arlington Graves Ramsey on June 25, 1966 in Gainesville, Texas. Lorean died December 24, 1994. Mr Arterberry was a small engine repair mechanic & had worked in both Comanche and Grady Counties. He also participated in the CCC Projects in the 1930's. Mr Arterberry was preceded in death by 7 brothers, 7 sisters, 3 stepbrothers, a son, George, a daughter, Joyce, and three grandchildren, Michael, Terry & Lisa Lorean. Survivors include a son, Jimmy W. Arterberry of Lawton, 4 daughters, Minnie Rhodes, Linda Carter & Mandy Farrell, all of Cache, & Liz Adamson of Lawton, 5 step-children, W.A. "Bill" Graves of Chickasha, LeRoy Graves of Oakdale, California, Maynard of Petal, Mississippi, Wanda Scribner of Coleman, Bonnie Hamilton of Alex, a sister, Carol Lay of Verden, 23 grandchildren, including Ronda Huffiness of Alex, whom he raised, 47 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Note: He did not like his name so he chose BENNIE as his name as a young man. He then signed his name as B.N. Arterberry.
