Phyllis M. Eckersley

Local LPN Phyllis M. (Newell) Eckersley, 47, of 807 2nd Ave. S.W., died Saturday in a motorcycle accident south of Belt.

Her funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Temple Baptist Church. O'Connor Funeral Home is handling arrangement.

She was born Aug. 4, 1950 in Modesto, Calif., and grew up and attended schools in Tucson, Ariz.

She married Michael J. "Joe" Eckersley in 1989 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Eckersley was a nurse supervisor at West-Mont in Great Falls, had worked with cancer patients at Columbus Hospital and was an LPN at Missouri River Manor at the time of her death.

She was secretary for ABATE of Montana, and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, fishing and camping.

Surviving are her husband; her father, Gene Newell of Bunn, N.C.; daughters Penny Rains of Cascade and Melyssia Gage of Great Falls; sons Justin Gilbert of Great Falls; a sister, Wanda Brown of Redding, Calif.; a brother, Randy Newell of Woodinville, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
