Gwendolyn Belva “Tootsie” Alexander Hobbs passed away, Wednesday, June 10, 2015.

Tootsie was born January 3, 1922, to Thomas Jefferson Alexander and Cassie Nora Bridgewater Alexander. She married Harold Everett Hobbs October 26, 1940.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and infant daughter, Belva Yenette Hobbs. Belva was born August 22, 1942, and died August 23, 1942. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mila Marie McVay, Doris Juanita Warren, Winnie Laverne Ricci and Virginia Anne Davis and brothers, Lynn Granville Alexander, Glenn Thomas Alexander, Grady Lee Alexander, and David Lonnie Alexander.

She was known all her life as Tootsie, Toots or Aunt Tootsie. Tootsie and Harold were living in the rural McDade area at the time of his death. She then moved to the Brady area to live with her daughter.

Tootsie is survived by her daughter, Gwendolyn Kay Springer and husband, James; grandsons, Brian Harold Springer and wife, Crystal and Christopher Allen Springer and wife, Krissie. She is also survived by four great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, sister, Nora Jean Shirley and husband, Dr. Lewis, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church conducted by Mark Nygard.

Interment will be at Lawrence Chapel Cemetery.
