Allen Robert Robinson was the sixth child and the third son of Adolphus Gustus Robinson and Theodosia Ada Martin. As a young man, Allen spent many a day as a "Flatheader" (lumberjack) in the virgin forest of Jackson Parish. A "Flatheader" got his name from the way the tree stump would look after the tree was felled. This was done by using a two-man hand saw. He and his older brother, Timothy Leon "Lee" were known as the best and fastest "flatheaders" in the Jackson Parish!

After living near Zoar, Louisiana, his family moved northeast to Lincoln Parish near the community of Clear Lake. He eventually met and married (19 November, 1922) Bessie Mary Ann Griggs. She was the daughter of Charles Thomas Griggs who was living in the small farming community of Zoar. Allen proposed to Bessie in front of the Zoar Methodist Church off PR 499.

Allen worked in the Brown's Paper Mill in West Monroe, Louisiana for several years until his retirement in the 1960's. He and his wife, Bessie, had sent two sons off to World War II...which, surely, must have been emotionally taxing on both of them. They both returned safely and raised families of their own.

Allen was known as an avid and successful hunter and fisherman. His exploits as a deer and squirrel hunter are well-known. With his able-bodied dog, "Little Man" by his side, he could find and then, knock out even the best well-hidden squirrels....which is no easy task!
Allen could out walk his teenage grandchildren while hunting. Even into his 80's, he was in good physical shape.

Allen led a simple, yet happy life....farming, hunting and fishing.
