Charles W. Heimer Took His Life By Hanging Saturday; World War I Veteran

Charles W. Heimer, 67 years old, took his life by hanging Saturday evening, June 2, 1962, in a barn at the home of his son, Edward l "Pete: Heimer with whom he had been making his home, nine miles southwest of Edina. The son had gone to Edina about 6:30 o'clock that evening and found his father when he returned about an hour later. Coroner A.G. Rimer was notified and said that no inquest would be held.
Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel here with the Rev. Dom Cole officiating. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery, south of Edina.
Mr. Heimer is survived by six daughters and five sons, Mrs. Ellen Fusselman of Peoria, Ill., Mable, Mrs. Edwin Small, of Chesterton, Ind., Mrs. Susie Parton, and Erma, Mrs. Calvin Robertson of Edina, William Heimer of near Newark, Edward Heimer, previously mentioned, Kenneth Heimer, who is serving with the Armed Forces and stationed in Germany, Norma Jean, Minnie Marguerite, Richard Allen and Charles Jr., who are in a foster home in La Belle. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Barbara Stewart of Vicksburg. Miss. And four nieces.
Mr. Heimer was born Dec. 8,1894, at Kahoka, a son of Edward and Clara Jane Morris Heimer. He was first married to Beulah Kaylor Aug. 25, 1920 and in April 1945 was married to Marguerite May Small. Mr. Heimer, a farmer, and veteran of World War I, having served in the 140th Infantry, was a member if the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Eva Bernice, two brothers, Luther and Arthur and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ewing and Mrs. Minerva Shafer.
