Effie Alice Zacharias Koester was born on September 25, 1918 in McGregor, in McLennan County, Texas to Carl and Ottilie Zacharias. She was one of six children.

On March 4, 1945 she married Edwin William Emil Koester in McGregor, in Coryell County, Texas. Edwind's brother, Arnold, had dated and later married Alice's older sister Bertha.

Ed and Alice had one child, Patricia Alice. They raised their family in Olney, in Young County, Texas

Alice was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. I loved visiting with her and Ed when we would visit Olney, Texas. Aunt Alice was more reserved, but we always knew she loved us and wished only the best for us. Alice and her family were devout Lutherans.

Alice died on June 28, 2000 in Olney, Young County, Texas and was buried in the Restland Cemetery in Olney, Young County, Texas. She is missed deeply and we know her love is always with us.
