OBITUARY
We received a letter this week stating that R. M. Croy had passed away at his home at Colton, Calif., but did not give the date of his death.
Mr. Croy was born near Crawfordsville, Indiana, March 23, 1841. He served in the Civil War. He enlisted at St. Joseph, Mo., in Co. D, 13 Missouri, and was invalided home after 3 months service. He came to Kansas and homesteaded during the year 1863. He founded Havensville in 1879.
Mr. Cory's first wife passed away at Havensville, September 10, 1885 and is buried here, as is also an infant son. Two other sons preceded their father; Milt in 1892 at Rockford, Ill.; Marius in 1901 at Torreon, Old Mexico. He leaves a daughter to mourn his departure, Frances E. Linfesty, also of Colton.
Mr. Croy is the last of a family of twenty-two brothers and sisters. Mr. Croy paid Havensville a visit a few years ago, and will be remembered by all the older residents.
