James Alexander Marcus Snider was the son of John G Snider and his first wife Susan Whitaker. He moved to the Marion-Schley County area as a child. He married Marion Malinda Wall daughter of Austin Warren Wall and Cintrella Marilla Sanders Wall. They had five children: James Wyatt Snider, Anna Eudora Snider Bridges, Sarah Della Snider, John Berry Snider, and Charles Webster Snider. His wife Marion Malinda died in 1881. He then married Mrs Jane Elizabeth Sanford on May 4, 1884 in Schley County, Georgia. She is the daughter of Robert McCorkle and Francis Gaskins McCorkle of Sumter County, Georgia. She was the widow of John H. Sanford of Sumter County, Georgia. Jim and Jane had four boys - Bricy Lowe Snider, Hezikiah Jewell Snider, Elmer Clifford Snider and Artis Clayton Snider.
