Mrs. Cathrine J. Beutter, 83, of 1509 S. Fellow St., died at 5 p.m. Monday in Healthwin Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born on Aug. 8, 1898, in South Bend and was a lifetime area resident. On Aug. 11, 1920, in South Bend, she married Louis F. Beutter, who died Aug. 8, 1959. Surviving are a daughter of Philadelphia, Pa.; a son, Brother Charles Beutter, C.S.C., principal of Notre Dame High School, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two grandchildren; four sisters, Mr. Leo (Theresa) Goepfrich and Mrs. Garold (Olga) Brothers, both of South Bend, Mrs. Arden (Betty) Mendel of Warsaw, and Mrs. Mary Valleau, of Rockford, Ill.; and a brother, Edward Wartha of South Bend.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday at St. Matthew's Cathedral, with most Rev. Joseph R. Crowley, officiating. Burial will be at City Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Guisinger Colonial Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Wednesday by the parish and the Daughters of Isabella. A memorial mass is scheduled at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, at St. Matthew's Cathedral, the Ladies Auxiliary of Post 50, American Legion, Ladies Auxiliary 6 DAV and the Associates of St. Joseph Holy Cross.
