She was born September 18, 1924 in Fairbury, Illinois; she was the daughter of of the late Henry and Anna Meister Leonhardt.
She married Earl Kilgus on March 17, 1949, in Fairbury, Illinois, and he survives. Following marriage the couple moved to Remington IN.
Prior to her marriage Mrs. Kilgus worked at the Fairbury dress factory. After marriage she worked beside her husband on the family farm, was a homemaker, enjoyed entertaining and worked at the Carson Inn as a housekeeper. After retirement the couple was privileged to spend time traveling and spending time together. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Arlene loved and served the Lord and had been a member of the Apostolic Christian Church for 62 years.
Surviving with her husband are her children: Brenda Clark (husband: Ron), Katherine Jefferson, and Daniel Kilgus (wife: Jenna) all of Remington; and a sister: Lorrene Clauss Schieler of Parkview Haven in Francesville.
Also surviving are her grandchildren: Rochelle (Husband: John) Ward, Justin, and Braden Clark (fiance: Ashley Turner); Chad (fiance: Stefani Warner), Mark, and Beth Gretencord; Aaron (wife: Kayla), Trenton (wife: Cammie), Alisia, and Stuart Kilgus; along with 7 great-grandchildren: Madison, Jaedyn, and Camdyn Ward; Sean Hayden, Zach, and Braylon Gretencord; Ian Sharp and Johnathon Slocum.
Arlene was preceded in death by a sister Miriam Mehrkens, 2 half brothers: William Obergfel and Dan Obergfel; and two half sisters: Kathryn Grace and Annie Metz.
Friends may call at the Remington Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall from 2-8 p.m on Monday March 15th with the funeral being held on Tuesday March 16th. 10:30 a.m. at the Remington Apostolic Christian Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Parkview Haven Retirement Home, 101 Constitution Dr., Francesville, IN 47946 and Jasper County Hospice.
