Bitsie died April 2, 2010, in Mexican Springs. He was born June 20, 1934, in Mountain Valley, N.M. into the Salt People Clan for the Red Running into the Water People Clan.
Bitsie attended Fort Wingate elementary school, he worked on the railroad and at a sheet metal factory in San Francisco. He enjoyed attending to livestock, playing cards, spending time with friends.
Survivors include his son Lawrence Etsitty; brothers Thurmond Bitsie Sr., of Tohatchi; sisters Kathy Jim of Mexican Springs, Elizabeth Spencer of Indian Wells, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Bitsie and Roselyn Bitsie; sister Ruthie Becenti; brothers Kenneth Bitsie Sr., Wallace J. Bitsie.
Pallbearers will be Kendrick T. Jim, Todd Becenti, Adam A. Jim, Brandon Torivio, Arnall A. Jim and Kendel L. Jim.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Mexican Springs Chapter House after services.
