Martha C. Marley Newton, ‘Aunt Matt’ (1845, ? – 1926, Bertram TX) was a jolly, well-loved neighbor to the Smith and Klose families in Burnet. In 1867 Martha became the wife of William Martin Newton, and they had eleven children including triplets and several others who died in infancy. "Aunt Matt" was known as a "real character" who would say anything for a laugh. She became blind in her later years.
