Vern Damon Basham, 75, of Dublin, Va., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 15, 2010. He was retired from Lynchburg Foundry with over 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Marie Blankenship Basham; a daughter, Carolyn Basham and fiance, Paul Muncy, of Riner; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Basham, of Belspring; three granddaughters and their spouses, Trish Basham and Jeff Rigney, Anitra and Matthew Kesler, and Kreston and Bryce Duncan; five greatgrandchildren, Quinton Frye, Isaac Duncan, Samuel Duncan, Savanna Duncan and Kaylan Kesler; two sisters and brother-in-law, Lavene Nichols and Dotty and Bill Palmer, all of Salem; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Edsel and Mary Basham, of Lebanon, and James "Jimmy" "Unkie" and Rose Basham, of Floyd; and loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Harry McCoy, the kind and caring nurses at Montgomery Regional Hospital, and special thanks to his special nurse whom he considered his angel, Crystal. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with the Rev. John O'Donnell officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the funeral home. The Basham family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Va., 540-639-2456.
