Ellie Barbee Peeples, 80, of Amarillo died Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Trinity Fellowship Church West Sanctuary with El Cantu, pastor, and Bo Williams, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Peeples was born March 12, 1930, in Lakeview to J.H. and Ethel Barbee and was one of 10 children. She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1947 and attended Frank Phillips College. She married Rex Peeples on March 12, 1961, in Lakeview.

Ellie loved the Lord and her family and was a longtime member of Trinity Fellowship Church, where she loved being a greeter. She also loved volunteering at The Ronald McDonald Room and at Bethesda Outreach Center. She was a devoted and loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Ellie's caregiver Linda West, who was a godsend, and also wishes to thank Kerri and Patricia of Odyssey Hospice care for their loving care and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Rex; a daughter, Kimberly Tawwater and husband Chuck of Amarillo; two sons, Danny Martin and wife Vivian of Memphis and Scott Peeples and wife Mitzie of Sunray; a brother, Bobby Barbee and wife Dixie of Lakeview; a sister, Irene Russey of Memphis; six grandchildren, Chris Tawwater of Abilene, Colin Tawwater and wife Sarah of Amarillo, Rachel Peeples and Michael Peeples, both of Sunray, Keith Martin and wife Rhonda of Claude and Aimee Smith of Memphis; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allison, Alexis, Jaden and Jene; and many other loving nieces, nephews and family members.
