Bobbie Lee Lewis was born on July 18, 1923, Clarksville, Texas, the ninth of 10 children born to the union of Edmond Lewis and Mattie Dixon Lewis. She received her education and religious training early in life.
She united with the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age and was a member up until her death.
Bobbie was a pretty and very talented young woman. She could compose and deliver speeches on any subject given to her at a moment's notice. Because of her talent, she was very often called upon to deliver such speeches at her church. She was a true "artist of life" at heart. "Born ahead of her time" was a fitting description of the type of person Bobbie was.
On April 12, 1946 at 5:05 a.m., Bobbie's short life ended at the young age of 22 years, a little more than three months prior to her 23rd birthday. We loved her, but God truly loved her best.
Preceding her in death were one brother, Jim Lewis, her paternal grandparents, Sampson and Patsy Lewis, and her maternal grandmother, Willie Jackson Dixon.
Survivors include her parents, Edmond and Mattie Lewis; her maternal grandfather, Jason Dixon; five brothers, Sampson, Zebidee, Oscar, Jason and Gavin, all of Clarksville; and five sisters, Edna Lewis, Edwina Nelson, Lucille Lewis and Ollivette Young, all of Clarksville, Texas; and Barneta (Juanita) Behn, of Paris, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services were held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Clarksville, Texas.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Ferguson Funeral Home in Clarksville, Texas.
