He was a native of Savannah, Ga., and was a member of Camellia Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police, Sewells Point No. 28. A veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he had retired from the Navy after 30 years and from the Norfolk Naval Base police department.
Survivors include his wife, Jestine Findley Bazemore; three daughters, Cynthia Futrell of Chesapeake and Sandra Howie and Debra Ann Bazemore, both of Norfolk; a son, David G. Bazemore of Abingdon; his stepmother, Eileen Bazemore Mock; and two sisters, Hilda Kelly and Marian Bouchillon, all of Savannah, and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Fred Braswell. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today and at the residence.
